Christmas!
Dec. 26th, 2011 05:38 amHave you ever been awake so long that you don't even care anymore that you're tired? Like after awhile you go beyond tiredness and just stop needing sleep? I am there.
My presents this year weren't very many, because I am an adult and I don't need anything. I am fine with this. My grandparents gave us a Chili's gift card and a bracelet. My mother got me a black long sleeve shirt, which I needed, and some Hello Kitty pajamas, which, YESSSSSSSS. Warm HK pajamas, guys! She also gave me makeup and a few different ~nail art~ things that I'll be honest probably will suck but I'm excited to play with them anyway. Who knows, they might not suck! My father got me the book James Shields wrote (he's a pitcher on my baseball team). Actually all the presents are supposed to be from both of them but you can tell who picked out what. I also got socks and some Hello Kitty ornaments and things. Oh, and a mini AquaPet. Unlike the more expensive ones, these ones don't have water and don't dance, but you can take them out and they'll talk back to you in their language. We got it because it's blue and named Muki and we have a blue parakeet named Mookie.
Boyfriend got me a diamond bracelet :D And a few trinketty things including a Lalaloopsy playset. Now I have three Lalaloopsies. I'm planning on fixing up the top of the dresser my dolls currently live on so they'll have a nice neat area. It'll be 5 Monster High dolls (six as soon as Cupid comes, which is soon because she's been released! And she's much cuter than her prototypes, guys! She even has hearts in her pupils and her bone wings/spine are bone colored and super detailed and are detachable! Her bracelet/ring isn't a combination like I thought but who cares? CUPID IS COMING! Er, as soon as I can find her in a Walmart, anyway.)
Boyfriend's parents gave us a Chili's giftcard too and they also gave me a keychain with their last initial, which I guess is a hint? They also got one for his brother's finacee (IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE MY WEDDINGGGGGGG), so.
I tried green bean casserole for the first time in my life. It's not bad, but it could use some jazzing up. In other firsts news, I saw A Christmas Story all the way through for the first time, also. It's, you know, eh. I think it has to be a childhood tradition movie. If you watch it as an adult for the first time, unless you're being nostalgic for the time period it's set in, it just doesn't really do much for you. But it's still cute. I also grew up in Florida so the snow stuff kind of flies over my head.
So, it was a good Christmas. I always say I'll take pictures of stuff, and maybe I will this time.
p.s. it was 79 degrees today.

Kylie tweeted this yesterday:
Merryjinglelovesparklechristmas peeps!!!!
if anyone else did that I'd probably roll my eyes, but because it's her? I think it's adorable.
So presents:
From parents:
Beatles Monopoly (I... don't really like Monopoly, but it's so cute, it replaces dollar signs with hearts, so you pay in love, so we'll play it)
Beatles Trivial Pursuit (I like this much better. Obvs.)
Eyeshadow palette in the shape of a touchscreen phone or something, idk, but it's cute and they're really pretty colors
Holiday Barbie Christmas ornament (I get one every year... the Christmas tree is pretty much entirely Barbies now... oops)
Clip-on earrings, because mine aren't pierced (yet)
Socks! SOCKSSS just one pair but they're very nice socks
Bath stuff from Boyfriend's parents
Skerple brand permanent markers... it's an inside joke, see, because in the mall dollar store they have permanent markers with a logo that's in cursive so it looks like Sharpie but is actually... Skerple. I lol'd so hard I showed my boyfriend and he laughed a lot too. And then he got them for me for Christmas, apparently :D
He also got me rly cute shoes and the latest HP dvd.
And from my grandparents? A George Foreman grill. I am not even kidding. I have no idea why. But I'll, uh, try using it, I guess. I appreciate it, in any case :D

I got everything I wanted for Christmas, because my family is awesome. I'm not going to go on about it because I feel like the only person who had a good Christmas, but I did have a very lovely few days here and I'm content. Also, it's 68 degrees outside, meaning my wish for a pleasantly warm Christmas came true.
And the presents I got were perfect, as well. :)

EDIT 12-26-08: I just realized it looks like I'm saying the presents I received were perfect, when I really meant all the presents I gave were perfect. Oops. -11:34 PM

Burned CDs are totally a good Christmas present, right? Like, if you can't get the burned material elsewhere? I even had to sneak out to go next door in the middle of the night to get blank CDs, like a total Santa Claus. (I wish we kept the blank CDs in this house instead of next door, though.)

You Are Merry and Spontaneous |
![]() You approach the holidays with joy and playfulness. You refuse to let the holidays be stressful. They should only be about fun. The holidays truly make you feel like a kid again. And you believe it's your job to make everyone else feel like a kid too! Of all the types, you're the most likely to give someone a gift early... because you can't wait. You're also the most likely to wrap your presents quickly - or not at all. |

Just to keep you updated, yes, I did get socks for Christmas, and I'm thrilled to bits. :)

I hope I get socks for Christmas, I hope I get socks for Christmas, I hope I get socks for Christmas, I hope I get socks for Christmas...
Yes, that's what I asked for. Socks. Knee-highs, specifically. I asked for nothing else. Just socks.
Especially since I think my electric blanket, practically the only gift (AND BEST GIFT EVERRRRRRRR) I received last year, is dying. Everytime I plug it in and turn it on, it flashes the error sign until I unplug it. This is probably why I haven't been sleeping well for about a week now. I've been too cold to sleep. I know, I know, it sounds crazy to be so sensitive, but it can't be just that I've convinced myself I'm too cold to sleep, since I unplugged the blanket, didn't sleep for a few days, and then the lightbulb went off that it was probably the blanket's not working that was causing my lack of sleep.
I am especially worried since this one was expensive and I don't know if we can afford another one this year, since money's been a bit tight. :(
I hope I get socks for Christmas.

It's time to...
Dec. 24th, 2007 11:21 pmClean out my purse, for real. It weighs about six pounds.
I did something monumentally stupid with my purse. A few months ago- October? November? I dunno- my boyfriend's bracelets got stolen, (one of which I had gotten him) so I bought him a new one with the intention that he'd get it for Christmas.
Being the incredibly unorganized person I am, I realized last week that I had no idea what had happened to the bracelet. I searched EVERYWHERE, all my usual hiding places, and found no bracelet. The last place I remembered putting it was in my purse after I bought it, and I couldn't remember ever actually taking it out. But I searched my purse several times, removing items and looking through it, and there was no little bag with a bracelet in it.
So yesterday we went to the mall and I got another bracelet, a different one this time in case I found the old one. Now that I knew what the bag looked like, I decided to have another search. I looked through my purse again, and lo and behold, a crumpled paper bag with a bracelet in it was to be found.
So I had to unwrap the second bracelet so I could slip the first in with it.
My only New Year's Resolution:
Clean out my damn purse already.

Dec. 21st, 2007 11:35 pmSince I'm going to make a new Christmas graphic this year, I'm posting up my original Christmas graphic a little early.

For those of you who are forgetful, every year, for some of the holidays, I make little crappy graphics in mspaint and slap them in my livejournal. Sometimes I use the same ones for a couple of years, and no one seems to notice, which is good, because I am lazy. I've been using this one since, I don't know, 2004? Okay, I checked, and the first year I posted it was 2005, but I made it in 2003. So it'd old and it's time for a new one. :)

So my bedroom is magical. This is something I've known for quite some time now, actually. The first magical thing I noticed is the occasional visit from who I like to call the Clothing Fairy. Every so often I'll open my closet and discover a shirt, a pair of pants, a bra, underwear, socks, or some other article of clothing I have no recollection of ever having before. And yet, there it is, brand new but without any tags and smelling like both laundry detergent and that smell clothes get when they've been sitting in the closet for awhile. So I take out the clothing item and ask my mother, "Have you ever seen this before?" And she'll say "no?" Which is how I know the only way it could have gotten there is by MAGIC. Sometimes the kind fairy will even bring clothes she knows I need, like that time I wanted a new long-sleeved shirt and then found one.
And then there's the rattling door mystery. Okay, it's not really a mystery so much as it's just plain weird. My bedroom door (and none of the other doors in the house) rattles. A lot. Sometimes it rattles for obvious reasons, like really loud thunder. And sometimes it just... rattles. For no reason I can tell. My mother's witnessed this, and, in fact, tried to hold the knob so it wouldn't rattle only to have the door vibrate in her hands. Spooky.
The next magical thing is that Bad Things don't enter my room. My toilet overflowed once, and the water didn't go in my bedroom despite the fact that the rooms are next to each other. And if there are bugs in the house (Florida houses seem to attract a lot of insects, for whatever reason) they don't go in my room. This is pretty neat.
My room also magically stays REALLY FREAKING COLD all year round. I'm... not too fond of this magical aspect, though.
The last, best magical aspect of my room is the fact that money seems to pop up every so often. I find coins and bills tucked all over the place. It's probably just money I've misplaced, but sometimes I have no recollection of ever having, or losing, the money. It's just... there.
Speaking of money, I've got forty dollars in cash and a fifty dollar giftcard to the Citrus Park Mall, and I'm trying to figure out the best way to spend this money. I have some ideas, though. Ideas involving used book stores and thrift shops, because I am cheap. Plus, I won't spend any money until after Christmas, in case I accidentally buy myself something my parents have already gotten me. Also, YAY SALES.
Also, it's raining! Yay, I love night rain. :)

Dec. 25th, 2006 12:48 pmAm I the only one who absolutely cannot believe the electricity went out on Christmas day, and we don't even have the excuse of bad winter weather? I can't be. I mean, it's insane. But it's back on now, so I can have breakfast and go back to bed for awhile.
I hope you're all enjoying whatever holiday(s) you happen to be celebrating or have celebrated, and happy belated birthday to
matt_rocks :)
Let's hope the electricity stays on now (I mean, wtf, why are we having thunderstorms and 80 degree weather??? At least now it's 68 degrees so we didn't die without air conditioning.)
