Writer's Block: Leftovers of leftovers

I don't eat something unless I know what it is and what's in it. It's not fair to not tell someone what you're feeding them and rude to keep saying "JUST TRYYYY IIIIT" when they refuse because you're trying to get them to eat something they probably won't like. I'm picky BECAUSE I ALREADY KNOW I DON'T LIKE THINGS. People need to accept this. I don't eat (for example) goat cheese or sheep cheese because they're nasty and I can always tell it's there, it's not like I just decided one day I won't eat it and you can triumphantly force it down my throat and say SEE YOU DO LIKE IT
no, sry.
Hmm, this entry looks angrier than I actually am. Oops.
-ivybfoodflower @ 12:02 PM Can't sleep :(

IT'S 17.1 DEGREES OUTSIDE AND I AM NOT EXAGGERATING
When the temperature outside is lower than my age, there is a problem here.
I'm afraid of my room. You can actually feel arctic wind blowing out of it. My mother even felt it. She asked if I had a fan on. I did not.
AND OUR HEATER ISN'T WORKING CORRECTLY.
I'm making out my will as we speak. I will not survive this.
Oh, and in Snowwatch 2010 news: We actually DID get flurries on Saturday, but I MISSED IT. We apparently mostly got sleet tho, so I guess I didn't miss much. STILL. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?
The sun isn't out yet. Hopefully things will get warmer then. I am not holding out much hope though.
On the plus side, we're having chili tonight. When I was taking prednisone, chili is what I ate like a freaking fiend (that stuff made me eat like a pig and bloat up... and I'm still bloated :()
Mmmmchili. Not so mmm, cold weather :(
-7:03 AM
P.S. HIIII ONTD_AI FRIENDS!
oh hai
8:47 AM:
It's 27 degrees now. Oh, well, in THAT case...
sigh.

...did I seriously just fix my computer? Is it fixed now? Have I been in tears over nothing?
Let's backtrack: a few weeks ago (a month ago? I don't even remember) computer would turn on, the monitor button would turn green... and then turn orange. From past experience (aka THE LAST FREAKING TIME) I knew that this was the graphics card. After my mother called India for tech support and they HUNG UP ON HER, I did what I knew could be done, and unplugged the monitor from the graphics card and hooked it up to the integrated graphics card. Voila, problem (sorta) solved. Obvs, integrated graphics cards are kind of shitty. That's why computers ship with shiny new nvidia cards. But since even The Sims 2 ran fine with the integrated card, I wasn't too worried about it. Eventually mama called for someone to come put a new one in (after all, the integrated card was making things a bit laggy) and someone showed up, put a new card in, left, and then I got... lines on the screen. Pixelly weird lines on the screen. Then it tried to go to screen saver (cute bubbles) and suddenly decided this was all too much and it had to shut itself down. Naturally when a new graphics card is installed and things go horribly wrong, you panic. Mama called Dell Guy and he came right back and spent HOURS here, apparently getting nothing accomplished. He was kind of dumb, but whatever. He gave us a new motherboard too. Apparently they're related, idk.
But the lines and the shutting itself down got worse (at one point things were turning BRIGHT NEON GREEN, what the hell, and it wasn't just a green tint- it was just BLOCKS OF NEON GREEN, WHAT THE HELL, which weren't my system colors because we have pink, so who even knows what that was all about) and random programs kept announcing they were crashing before it would just shut itself down after flashing a blue screen full of text I'd dearly love to have read if it hadn't gone away so quickly (EVERY SINGLE TIME IT GOES AWAY BEFORE I FINISH READING THE FIRST LINE. GAHHH.) After messing with some bios settings (I was trying to get it to let me override the new card and use the integrated card again, because it wouldn't let me while the new card was still installed and I couldn't get it out because I'm scared of breaking things, but apparently it lied to me about those settings so whatever) so finally I opened the thing up and pushed on the card a bit and now it work-
OH SHIT THE LINES ARE BACK
ARE YOU KIDDING ME
JESUS HATES ME
PLEASE DON'T SHUT DOWN, I'M NOT FINISHED BACKING YOU UP!
I've got most of my folder backed up, I just need to do Kylie, but the thing won't stay not-shut-down long enough for me to get 30+ gigs loaded. Plus our family pictures folder (VERY IMPORTANT), and some stuff in the documents folder, and our favorites, and... oh, shit. WHY ME. What have I done to displease the computer gods? I love this computer more than lots of people. I take good care of her, she's my baby and I love her. I keep my virus and spyware protection up to date. I try to clean the registry. I back up stuff instead of clogging her up. I delete programs that suck and I don't need. I don't go to suspect websites.
All of this comes on the heels of losing half of my sims due to a crash while it was saving my neighborhood folder. I had to use an old backup and do some weird finagling with cheat programs to put things right again, and I was in tears because I was afraid something had happened to my very favorite sim Anna, who again I love more than lots of people. She's also prettier than most people, js.
COMPUTER, WHY U HATE ME THO?
Sigh :( Talk about epic techno hissyfits.
huh, the lines are flashing in time with the song on the cd player (house cd player, not computer cd player)
I'm so close to giving up. I just want it fixed.

oh I almost forgot, Snowwatch 2010: all signs point to it being slightly less impossible than usual for snow to happen tomorrow. WE SHALL SEE, STAY TUNED~

Writer's Block: Love is deaf

Well, my boyfriend and I- to put it mildly- don't see eye to eye on most music. We agree on a lot, but disagree on much more.
However, what we do have is respect for each other. I can listen to my music when I want, and he can listen to his, you know, with headphones, and we don't force each other to listen to music the other hates when we're stuck in a room/car together. I love to share stuff I love with other people so I ask him once "ooh new Kylie song!" and he'll listen, once. And if he likes it (which happens a lot, actually) then good. And if he doesn't, I won't get in a huff and force it on him. And he won't do it to me. That's what a relationship is about.
In Snowwatch '10 news: no snow today. Forecast has changed to snow for this weekend, however. So, snow. Is this how it's going to be? The waiting game? Well, it's 29 degrees right now, and I'm still alive. BRING IT.

Oh, look! Now that the sun's up, the temperature's risen! It's now *30* whole degrees!
*falls over dead*
On the news they're showing a picture someone sent them of a palm tree covered in ice. Now there's something you don't see every day.

Spilled hot coffee on my leg. Wearing my very favorite jeans. And white sweater (the mesh one, I kept it in the car just in case.)
The kicker? I DON'T DRINK COFFEE.
My rage was loud and terrible to behold.
I was too angry at the spillage to even realize I could be burned. It did hurt, but no burns. When I got home (this was all happening in the car) I ran to my bathroom and rinsed my pants and sweater. Everything seems to be fine, but still.

Ask no one
Sep. 14th, 2009 04:29 pmSo the Ask Gary guy (the actual Gary, I mean) from the stupid commercials on daytime tv is apparently really, reeeeallllly rich, and trying to pass a law about vaccines in children, because he believes in the autism-vaccine link horseshit.
I don't know why I'm so angry, I just am. I just hate that nonsense so much. The first person who came up with the ridiculous "link" later admitted that he fabricated all of his research. It's not true. Vaccines have nothing to do with autism.
Sometimes I hate people. I'm too angry to even capslock.

I FINALLY FOUND THE ORIGINAL PICTURE I USED TO MAKE THIS ICON WAY BACK BEFORE I HAD A LIVEJOURNAL LIKE SIX BILLION YEARS AGO (yeah, this icon is older than dirt). Shut up, this is totally important news.
In other news, I think I accidentally gave myself heat exhaustion/dehydration again. I r smrt.
Also this song makes me cry (I WILL REMEMBER YOU DANNII! COME HOST TV IN AMERICA I'D WATCH)
Unrelated also: I haven't listened to Real Love (the very top song on my very long list of favorite songs, which includes Disremembrance) in years, and I have the Regina Spektor version in my head, and I... I know some of you folks like her (I think?) so I'll refrain from getting all capslocky, but I really, really do not like this version. Really, really, really. REALLY (oops caps). Luckily Dannii's here to help. Also Kylie. Minogues ftw.

Some lady just called from the doctor's office. She said "everything's fine". WTF DOES THAT MEAN EVERYTHING'S FINE I WILL NOT ACCEPT THAT I WILL NOT ACCEPT THAT I HAVE BAD SKIN AND AM FAT AND COLD FOR NO REASON I DON'T THINK YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT, IRENE
Well now that I know I'm normal, or at least that's what I think that means, I realize that I was hoping for the other result... I was hoping there was an easy solution to my millions of problems. Now I know I'm just crazy. There aren't words to express my disappointment right now. I was so looking forward to taking some pills and becoming normal. Sleeping like a normal human being. Not being cold. Not having crappy dry skin on my arms and legs. Not having periods from hell. Not having headaches from hell. Being healthy and thinner and thinking clearly and not being annoyed or sad all the time. I was so looking forward to my new life. I should have known.
Also that means there's another reason for a problem I brought up that made my doctor mention the thyroid to begin with, and... that's another thing to worry about, but we'll talk about that in October.
I can't believe they just took my ticket to normalcy away from me.
I haven't been to sleep yet. I'm going to go maybe throw up now. Or cry. Or both.

Alright, so. I hate when I wait this long to update my livejournal, because now I have a lot to say and also a lot of homework. So let's get cracking.
On Saturday, Andrea decided to go and see omgRent again so Meagan could see it and also because her birthday was last Sunday (Happy birthday again :)).
So Shoshannah, Andrea, Meagan, me, and my lovely boyfriend went to Ruby Tuesday's and then we went to see the movie. I wore blue tights under pink fishnets, a maroon skirt and matching necklace and shoe (I had mismatched shoes, as usual, only these were heels, and the other was silver) and a blue top and one of my mood lipsticks (the blue one, which turns pink on the lips.) I actually brushed my hair (I had gotten new shampoo and conditioner, so I used them and brushed my hair, just for Andrea's Rentday :P) So Rent was so much better this time. The first time it was awesome and phenomenal and all of those other adjectives, but the second time it was even BETTER, maybe because I knew all of the songs by heart (repeated listenings to the music player on the website helped.)
On the omgRent note, I got so into it that I looked up the opera it's based off of, La Boheme. I've only read Act I, but so far it's ULTRA similar to Rent, and the language is more complex and whatever, but it's really awesome.
Name conversions:
Rodolfo: Roger
Marcello: Mark
Colline: Collins
Schaunard: Angel
Mimì: Mimi (note that the Italian has an accent, lol)
Musetta: Maureen (Get it? "Musetta's Waltz"?)
Benoît: Benny
Alcindoro: I had assumed that this was Allison, but then reading the character description, it might actually be Joanne. Note that this is a male character, something I didn't realize at 2:30 last night :P
( Some quotes. Note the similarities. )
I'm going to go read Act II now, and I'll let you know how that turns out.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
So tomorrow is John Lennon's 25th anniversary... bleh. :(
I finally got my exam exemption forms filled out. I get to exempt Keyboarding and Nutrition, the two easiest exams, and they're also on the same day, which means a free day so I can study for the more important Economics and Anatomy.
Well, I think that's everything of importance- ciao :)
